“What can I do?” Resource Fair 9/13 at 2pm

These are challenging times. As Universalist Unitarians, we covenant, in part, to inspire each other to be our best selves by clarifying misunderstandings and embodying healthy relationships as a living practice of our faith and beliefs. We will honor everyone’s gifts, with the intention of learning from diverse perspectives. Recognizing the interdependent web of all existence, together we will build a better world.

These values demand that when we are faced with intolerance and injustice, we cannot sit idle. Yet, it is difficult to know where to start, how to help, what will be enough. Nevertheless, we must start somewhere.

We invite your to start with asking the question, “What can I do?”

Join the Immigrant and Refugee Support, Democracy Action, Secure Food and Housing For All, Climate Action, and Sexuality and Gender Diversity Justice Teams on Saturday, 9/13 from 2-4pm at Episcopal Church of the Good Samaritan, 333 NW 35th St, Corvallis for a Resource Fair. This event brings together Mid-Valley community organizations working for peace, justice, democracy, human dignity and rights, a clean environment, mutual aid and more. This event aims to build bridges and weave ever more tightly the bonds of fellowship, belonging, and care that our Community will need to face the days to come.

We invite you to take this small step and once again: accept our shared responsibility to commit, again and again, to lovingly return to this, our sacred covenant.

Watch Party: One Million Rising Trainings, 8/13

During the justice renewal earlier this year and the Democracy Action team meeting in June, many voices were raised in support of more opportunities for training. Created by the organizers of the “No Kings” protests, in which many of us were participants, the “One Million Rising” education campaign offers just such an opportunity.

We will gather to watch and discuss the lessons from this national campaign as well as to celebrate our solidarity with our innumerable brother and sisters in democracy around this nation and around the world. If you cannot attend any of these sessions, you can always sign up to watch any session online. We look forward to seeing you there.

You can read more about One Million Rising at their website: https://www.nokings.org/rise.

Update on Needs in our Community – Secure Housing and Food For All Justice Team

The passage of the Big Beautiful Bill has had a profound—and deeply challenging—impact on local Corvallis shelters. With funding significantly reduced, these vital organizations are struggling to meet the basic needs of those they serve. The loss of resources has been devastating, but the need has not gone away. In this difficult moment, volunteers have become more essential than ever. If you’re able to give your time, even a little, your support can help keep dignity, warmth, and safety within reach for our neighbors in need.

For more information on how you can help, you can visit the following web pages or contact the Secure Housing and Food for All Justice Team, Roberta Smith (https://uufc.breezechms.com/people/view/27347382).
